Obituary for George J. Pacil Sr.

George J. Pacil, Sr.

Geneva; George J. Pacil, Sr. age 96, of Geneva passed away on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at Geneva General Hospital.

Family and friends may call Thursday (March 20) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. The American Legion will meet at 6:15 pm and Sons of Italy will meet at 6:45pm at the funeral home and to pay respects to their departed member. Funeral Services will be held on Friday (March 21) with prayers at 11:30 a.m.at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial at12:00 p.m. at St. Francis deSales Roman Catholic Church. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

George was born on July 21, 1917 in Sykesville, PA., the son of the late Frank and Cora Aimen Pacil. George served in the US Army during World War II under General MacArthur in the Pacific Theater of War in the Philippines. He took part in the Freedom of Bataan and received the Silver Star. George began his employment at the Geneva Housing Authority in 1958 and retired after 21 years in 1979 as a Senior Building Maintenance Mechanic.

George was a member of St. Francis deSales Church, Sons of Italy, Geneva Lodge 2397 and the Winnek Post 396 American Legion Geneva.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Olga; his son, George Pacil Jr. of Worcester, MA. and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his six sisters; Florence Daurelio, Elsie Bruno, Edith Iocco, Mary Palermo, Martha Scusa and Mae Rizzo.
