Joseph F. Linehan

Geneva; Joseph F. Linehan, age 85 of Geneva passed away on Friday December 4, 2015 at home.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 8) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St. Geneva. Members of the Nester Hose Company will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Dec.9) at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home and 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nester Hose Company 207 Genesee St. Geneva, NY 14456.

Joe was the second oldest of 15 children born on September 15, 1930 in Geneva the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Carragher) Linehan. He was employed by the Seneca Army Depot for 21 years, he went on to work and then owned McNerney’s Liquor Store in Canandaigua for over 30 years.

He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and a life member for over 60 years of the Nester Hose Company of the Geneva Fire Department. Joe enjoyed hunting, golfing, socializing with family and friends and being the unofficial Mayor at Lyceum Heights.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Patricia (Ritter) Linehan; daughters, Peggy (Patrick) Grace of Fairport, Sheryl (Gregory) Connors of Fayetteville; son, Daniel (Amy) Linehan of Brighton; 4 beloved grandchildren, Tricia and Matthew Switzer, Brett and Bryce Linehan; 6 step grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; siblings, Terry (Hiroko) Linehan of San Diego, CA, Maureen Hodges of Clarkston, WA, Geraldine (Don) McGloon of Geneva, Larry (Mary) Linehan of Phelps, Rosemary (Dan) Skinner of Waterloo, John (Carol) Linehan of Waterloo, Tim (Ellen) Linehan of Waterloo, Tom (Judy) Linehan of Denmark, ME; numerous nieces and nephews; close friends, especially Steve Mahan and Richie Knowlton.

Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Bernard, Donald and Michael; sisters, Patricia Beard and Nancy Ford
