Santos H. Leon

GENEVA – Santos H. Leon, age 84 of Geneva passed away on Thursday October 27, 2016 at the Leo Center for Caring in Rochester.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 1) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Nov 2) with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Leo Center for Caring 1500 Portland Ave. Rochester, NY 14621.

Santos was born on April 27, 1932 in Cayey Puerto Rico the son of the late Olympia Hernandez-Martinez and Casimiro Leon-Martinez. He retired in 1988 after working for 35 years at the Seneca Army Depot where he was honored with several awards and recognitions for his outstanding service during his employment at the depot. Santos was a member of St. Francis deSales Church.

Santos enjoyed baseball and football. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. He knew everything baseball and enjoyed several hours watching games. His biggest joy in life was to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flower gardens. He enjoyed family gatherings and getting people together. He enjoyed summer cookouts and playing horseshoes and frisbee. He also enjoyed music and would spend hours at home or in and around his car listening to his favorites. He had a joy for life and enjoying every minute of it. He was an everyday fixture around Geneva and brightened many people’s day with his bright smile and personality.

Santos is survived by his children, Santos Leon, Jr., (Justine) of Waterloo, Nellie Leon Krupcznski (Robert) of Canandaigua and Daniel Leon (Lisa) of Waterloo; grandchildren, Darren, Donald, Dylan, Aiden and Drew; brothers, Domingo Leon of Geneva, Miguel Leon of Puerto Rico; sisters, Benita Leon of Puerto Rico, Josefa Cartagena of Port Mommouth, NJ; Teofila Leon of Puerto Rico; several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, several close friends and beloved dogs, Rocko and Mia.

Santos was predeceased by his wife Elba Leon; sisters, Cristina Leon, Felicita Reyes; sister-in-law, Cristina T. Leon.
