Obituary for Christian "Billy" McCrudden

Christian “Billy” McCrudden

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, Christian “Billy” McCrudden, loving father, grandfather, and brother, passed away at the age of 71.

Christian was born on November 3, 1950 to John McCrudden and Susan (Logue) McCrudden. The eldest brother of eight siblings, he learned early to tightly hold onto family through holding his older sister’s hand while running down a green hill in Donegal as children. His youth was spent in King’s Park, New York, where he attended St. Joseph’s Elementary, St. Anthony’s High School, and King’s Park High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in English from the State University of New York College at Brockport, and he remained in Brockport – where he welcomed his three daughters, who were his greatest joy – until he moved back to Long Island in 1996.

Christian led a meaningfully complicated life. His pursuit and capacity for knowledge and education supported his TIME line…

His intelligence was often what impressed and sometimes intimidated others, as did his reverence for the well-written word and irreverence otherwise. But his love of family was fundamental to how he saw and interacted with the world. He saw the people he loved as a part of himself, to be protected and encouraged as much – or more – than himself.

Christian was predeceased by his father, John, and his mother, Susan. He is survived by his three adoring and dedicated dughters, Sarah (Michael), Tess (Daniel), and Dawn (Vince); his grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Nora, and Nolan; his siblings Mary, John, Kathy, Danny, Vincent, Kevin, and Karen; and eight nieces and nephews – Katie, Kristina, Heather, Edward, Kyle, Brianna, Alex, and Kevin Thomas.

A celebration of Christian’s life and the impact he had on those who knew him will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Barber’s Grill and Tap Room in Brockport at 3 o’clock p.m.
