Obituary for Daniel E. Smith
GENEVA- On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Daniel E. Smith, 57, passed away surrounded by his family at Geneva General Hospital after a brief illness.
Friends may call on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at McGuigan Bero Funeral Home, 45 High Street, Geneva. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home and burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Dan was born in Geneva on September 29,1965, to Sharon (Gulvin) and the late George Smith. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1983. After high school, Dan worked a few places before accepting a position as a machinist with Gould Pump in Seneca Falls. Dan worked there before his department was transferred to the Auburn plant. Dan retired from his position in October of 2020.
Dan was a life member of West Lake Road Fire Association where he was a member for 43 years. As a member he had served as an Assistant Chief, Captain and was currently a director. He was also a member of the Sons of American Legion Squadron 396 in Geneva where he was currently serving as 1st Vice Commander. Dan was also a long time member of Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club.
Dan is survived by his wife, Kate; his daughters, Alaina & Alyssa at home. His mother, Sharon of Geneva and his brother, David (Cathy Cardinale) of Geneva. Aunts, Lyn Stimpson of Geneva & Julie Gulvin of Old Forge. Several cousins including Bill (Laura) Millerd & Shari (Dana) Lewis of Geneva; Bobby (Mary) Andrews of Seneca Falls; Chris Stimpson & Nikki (Jimmy) Lloyd of Maryland; and Robert (Tammy) Walsh & Deanna Walsh of Old Forge. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Rena Nessler of Geneva and several friends.
Dan was predeceased by his father, George and his grandparents, Evan & Muriel Gulvin & Anna
