Born in Geneva to Theresa (Mariana) and Francis J Liberatore Sr; Frank attended St. Stephen’s primary and Geneva High Schools. An inner calling to serve his country resulted in service in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963. His tour of duty found him serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis, as well as at sea in Southeast Asia during the early years of the Vietnam War.
After service in the Navy, Frank returned to Geneva where he met and married Mary Donahue, of Geneva, in 1966. Frank also began his 39 year career at Xerox Corporation that same year. While working at Xerox he spent 21 years as a machinist. Frank was then elected and served the last 18 years of his career as a Union Shop Chairman. He represented unionized workers in building 208 at the Webster facility, as well as some workers at a few off site locations throughout the Rochester area.

Frank was a Geneva Little League coach in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s and also volunteered for several years as a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 13 in Geneva. He was an active member of Winnek Post 396 American Legion in Geneva throughout the 1980’s and early 90’s. There he served in several roles; including Commander in 1983-84. During his tenure, he was most proud of the Post’s hosting of the NYS American Legion bowling tournament in 1984. He also served in several positions at the County level of the American Legion.

Those who knew Frank know that he had an insatiable appetite for history and would read anything he could get his hands on. He would spend endless hours in museums, taking in every exhibit and reading every article before leaving the building. He was especially interested in anything military.

In the spring of 2005, he retired from Xerox and then had the time to enjoy several of his hobbies. This included helping build his oldest son’s family cabin in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Retirement also allowed him to spend more time on his other interests to include; golf three days a week at Crooked Pines, his morning coffee clutch at the Perinton McDonalds, as well as countless hours at his grandchildren Sam and Elle’s sporting events. The freetime that came with retirement also allowed him to spend more time in the woods of Himrod NY hunting with his sons each fall. Once built, the Adirondack cabin became a retreat spot for Frank. He often accompanied his son up North where he enjoyed spending time completing projects and hunting with “the gang from Harrisville”. Frank lived a full and complete life and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

Frank is survived by Mary, his wife of 55 years; his sons Mark (Teri) Liberatore and Christopher (Marcia) Liberatore; grandchildren Brianna (Abraham) Davis, Ashley (Chase Friend) Quartaro, Sam and Elle Liberatore; Step Grandchildren Sam and Mackenna Munroe; Great Grandchildren, Grayson and Abigail Friend and Ford Mark Davis.
He is also survived by sisters Mary and Beatrice Liberatore, Anne (Joe) Cirencione, Adele Liberatore and Rita Woodard; sisters-in-law Shelia Lucey, Betty (Pat) DeRosa, and Diane Hamed; brothers-in-law James (Molly) Donahue, and Thomas (Wanna) Donahue. Frank also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frank was predeceased by his parents as well as a brother in childhood and brothers-in-law James Lucey and Robert Woodard.
