Obituary for Jean M. Koch (Maher)

GENEVA/Florida- Jean M. Koch, age 85, of Cooper City, Fl passed away on Monday September 27, 2021 at her Son In-law and Daughter’s Seneca Lake home. She was a loving wife, mother, nana and GiGi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Thomas P. Mull will officiate. There will be no prior calling hours and Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nester Hose Company - 207 Genesee St. Geneva, NY 14456 or a charity of choice.

Jean was born on March 31, 1936 in Geneva, NY. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Helen (Brennan) Maher. She graduated from DeSales High School, was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Jean worked for the Geneva School District and Finger Lakes Community College prior to relocating to Florida in 2004 to be closer to her daughters and their families. She was an avid reader, loved to festively decorate for every holiday, and spend time on the water boating with family and friends. Her greatest passion in life was creating many special memories with her loved ones that will last forever.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra (David) Gilbert of Hollywood Fl., Barbara (Ronald) Fountain of Cooper City, FL; grandchildren, Jenna (Chris) Hinely of Hollywood, Fl, Laura (Mitch) Phillips of Chicago, IL; great-granddaughter, Raelyn Hinely ; sister, Linda Turturro of Geneva; brother Thomas Maher of Geneva; sister-in-law, Lorraine Maher of Geneva; Brothers-in-law, Kevin Powers of Geneva, Robert Keebler of Waterloo; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Richard (Dick) Koch former Hook & Ladder driver ; son, John Koch; sisters, Betty Locke, Mary Keebler, Nancy Powers; brothers, William E. (Joyce) Maher, Robert (Barbara) Maher, Richard Maher; brother-in-law, Charles Turturro.

To the World Jean was seen as a Mother but to our family she was the World!
