Obituary for Jeffrey M. Stolp

Jeffery M. Stolp, 73, of Arundel, Maine, formerly of Geneva passed away on February 11, 2021 with his wife and son by his side.

Jeff was born June 6, 1947 to William K. and Ellen (Nonnie) Welch Stolp. He grew up in Geneva and was a 1965 graduate of DeSales High School. Following graduation from St. Francis College in Biddeford, Maine, he worked in various position in Maine and the Virgin Islands.

His love of the sea was obvious to all who knew him and his dream job from which he retired was as Boatswain on the R/V (Research Vessel) Oceanus of the Woodshole Oceanographic Institute. He spent the majority of his adult life sailing the world’s oceans where he met his wife, Laura. He eventually hove-to in a hollow and commenced the biggest adventure of his life, fatherhood.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, and his ashes will be spread at sea.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Laura and son, Griffin of Arundel, Maine; his sister Elaine Stolp Morrow of Geneva, NY, her children, and grandchildren. He also leaves behind several cousins and lifelong friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert W. Stolp, his brother-in-law, Skip Morrow and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
