Obituary for Joan D. Gilbert
GENEVA- Joan D. Gilbert of Geneva, passed away on Thursday February 23, 2023 at Creekstone Residences in Fairport NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church in Geneva on Friday May 12th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Stephen’s Church.
Joan graduated from DeSales High School, attended Our Lady of Good Counsel College and was a graduate of Freeman Business School. Upon graduation she worked at The National Bank of Geneva, Saga Food Service and for Robert A Maley, CPA.
She volunteered at Geneva General Hospital; in the Meals on Wheels Program, The Lobby Shop and served on the Board of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Joan enjoyed spending summers at her cottage on Seneca Lake. She loved attending live horse racing at both Saratoga and Finger Lakes Racetracks (she always won). Part of her weekly routine was having lunch with friends. She had a passion for playing cards, especially euchre.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Gilbert and her son, William (Stephanie) Gilbert. Her grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily who she gave boundless love and attention.
She was predeceased by her husband William, parents James and Florence (Boisvert) Dwyer and sister Margaret Dwyer.
