Obituary for Joseph Bernard "Joe" Madia

Joseph Bernard Madia
October 4, 1935 – December 28, 2021

Joseph B. Madia passed away on December 28, 2021 at his home in Temecula California. Joe was born October 4, 1935 in Geneva, New York to his parents Francis R. Madia and Ermilia E. Tarantino. He grew up in Geneva and went to Rochester Institute of Technology for his Bachelor’s and Woodbury University for his Master’s. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Hector and when his service was complete in 1960 he moved to CA.

Joe was a man of many talents during his professional career. He was a Store Manager at Market Basket, Controller at Campbell Soup/Pepperidge Farms, Educator at Woodbury University, Entrepreneur (owned several ARCO AM/PM’s, business consultant, many other projects) as well as owner of a Tax Practice for numerous years.

Joe is survived by his wife of 35 years Shirley; his stepchildren Jim/Lisa and Cindy/Vic; grandchildren Jessika, Jacob, Brian, Emily and Matthew; great grandchildren Ellie, Kayden and Alice and many, many nieces, nephews and grandnieces/nephews.

A cause close to Joe’s heart was The Cuony Scholarship. Donations can be made in Joe’s memory to Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Geneva, New York or Finger Lakes Community College.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Joe’s joyful life on Saturday, May 28th at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Church in Geneva, New York. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Joe’s memorial service was held on Friday, January 28th at 10am at Murrieta Valley Funeral Home in Murrieta, California.

Joe will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
