Obituary for June J. Fospero (Bounds)

GENEVA- June Fospero, 86, of Geneva, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023 after a brief illness.

In accordance with June’s wishes, there will no calling hours.
June will be buried next to her husband at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery with a private service at a later date.

Born June Jeanette Bounds on June 12, 1936 in Waterloo, she grew up in Clifton Springs and was a member of St. Francis deSales Church. She moved to Geneva and worked as a waitress at Fairchild’s Diner where she met her husband, Cosmo, whom she married in 1959 and helped run Cosie’s Bar on Tillman Street for decades.

In her spare time, June “Junebug” volunteered at the Salvation Army Thrift Store and was always helping others in the neighborhood by picking up and delivering their medications. She found the most joy when spending time with her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and friends.
She was an avid bicyclist and a daily walker, two things she missed the most in her later years. She was always making food for guests, no matter how many times you told her you weren’t hungry.

She is survived by her sons Carl (Helen), Stephen, Michael and daughter, Patricia (Lawrence) Hall, grandchildren Lawrence, Nathan, Garrett Hall, Francesca and Jack Fospero as well as her sister Marjorie (Jim) Boyd, several nieces and a nephew.

June is predeceased by her husband, Cosmo, brothers William and Paul Bounds, sister Irene Sheehan, niece Janet Buell and nephew William Bounds.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Geneva Living Center for taking great care of her over the past few years.

Donations in June’s honor can be made to the America Heart Association.
