Obituary for Mary Ann Baumgartner

GENEVA- Mary Ann Baumgartner, age 90, of Geneva passed away on Monday November 15, 2021 at the Geneva Living Center, North.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, December 6th at 11:00am. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Diabetes Association.

Mary Ann was born on February 4, 1931 in Geneva the daughter of the late Edward F. and Esther (Switzer) Baumgartner. She graduated from DeSales High School, Freeman Business School and attended Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan. She worked at Geneva General Hospital for 26 years retiring as the Manager of Patient Services. Mary Ann was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, former member of Seneca Yacht Club, Seneca Lake Country Club and Geneva Country Club. She served as Executive Chairman of the Finger Lakes Chapter March of Dimes Foundation and a past President of the Credit Woman International, Finger Lakes Chapter. During the early retirement years, Mary Ann volunteered her business expertise to help people navigate health insurance matters. Throughout her life, she always offered a friendly smile and joyful laugh, speaking kind words about everyone. She was a woman of strong faith in God with a special devotion to praying the Holy Rosary.

She will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, friends, and Living Center North staff as a generous and kind person.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Esther (Switzer) Baumgartner; sister, Esther (Anthony) Polce and brother, Robert Baumgartner, Sr.

Mary Ann is survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
