Obituary for Paul "Paulie" VanDeMortel

GENEVA/LAKE WORTH, FL- Paul VanDeMortel, age 59 of Geneva passed away on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday (Jan.7) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home at 45 High St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday (Jan.8) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Paul was born on June 19, 1959 in Geneva the son of George, Sr. and Josephine Moran VanDeMortel. He started his working career at DiCampli Distributors and later with the Iron Workers Local Union No. 33. For many years he was also employed at the Inland Reef.

He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, Sons of the American Legion, an avid fan of all motor sports, and the Chicago Bears.

Paul is survived by his wife, Julie Furano VanDeMortel; step-son, James (Shelby) Buonadonna of Lake Worth, FL; step-grandchildren, Sienna Rose and Jordan James; brothers, George (Barbara) VanDeMortel, Jr. of Geneva, Scott (Migdalia) VanDeMortel of Massachusetts; sister, Mary (VanDeMortel) McGuigan of Geneva; nieces & nephews, Jon and Sara VanDeMortel, Jake VanDeMortel, Rachael and Collin McGuigan; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, George VanDeMortel, Sr. and Josephine VanDeMortel Venturino.
