Obituary for Rita J. Mosier (Toner)

GENEVA- Rita J. Mosier (‘nee’ Toner) of Geneva passed away on Saturday December 12, 2020 at the Hunting Living Center in Waterloo.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery on a date and time to be announced at the convenience of the family.

Rita was born in Geneva the daughter of the late James H. and Louise (Murphy) Toner. She was an avid movie goer and loved watching old movies on TCM.

She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and a long-time volunteer at Geneva General Hospital, for which she won awards for her volunteer work.

Rita was a great swimmer and would relate to her sons about swimming off the old pier at the foot of Seneca lake. She enjoyed music, dancing and reading a good novel.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Joseph (Leslie) Ritter of Williamsville, NY, Gregory (Tina) Lahr of Henderson, NV; granddaughters, Krysta (Chad) Ortiz, Ashley (Austin) Byrd; great-grandchildren, Malia and Raiden Ortiz, Riley and John Byrd; many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, great-great nieces & nephews.

Rita was predeceased by her beloved brothers, James J. Toner and William J. Toner; sister, Elizabeth L. (Toner) Mann.
