Obituary for Shirley C. "Shirl" Eannetta

GENEVA- Shirley (Shirl) Eannetta of Geneva passed away suddenly on Thursday December 1st, 2022.

Shirley was born in Geneva on March 28, 1935 to the late Clarence and Genevieve Corrigan. Predeceased by husband William Eannetta, grandson Jordan Leavitt and former husband Richard Keith.

Survived by her children, Rebecca Keith of Philadelphia, Robyn Whittaker of Rochester, Kimberly (Talbert) Bentley of Alaska and Christopher Keith of Hawaii, David (Debbie) Eannetta of Waterloo, Paul (Kathy) Eannetta of Florida, Terry Eannetta of California and Tracy Eannetta of California. Also survived by grandchildren, Trisha (Mike) Sarno, Mary (John) Conley, Paula Eannetta, Harrison Leavitt, Ian Keith, Kieran Bentley and great grandchildren Gia, Gemma, Gwen, Molly and Mikaelo.

Shirley started her career with NY Telephone and then was employed as a switchboard operator at Geneva General Hospital and then advanced to Chief of Communications. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, several quilting guilds and the now defunct “Ladies Sewing Circle and Terrorist Society” now known as the Nickel-Nickel, Dime-Dime Card Club. She enjoyed quilting for her family, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards with her friends, and happy hours. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and researching her family genealogy. Shirley managed to maintain her sanity after raising her four children almost single-handedly.

Friends may visit with the family Sunday (Dec.11) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St., Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday (Dec.12) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis DeSales Roman Catholic Church, 130 Exchange St., Geneva. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish, Geneva Center of Concern or a charity of your choice.
