Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Francis Taney

GENEVA- Robert “Bobby” Francis Taney of Geneva passed away on Saturday August 15, 2020 unexpectedly at the age of 59.

Funeral services and burial will be private. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Golisano Children’s Hospital 601 Elmwood Ave. Rochester, NY 14642.

Bobby was born in Geneva N.Y. on January 10th 1961, to Robert John and Doris Taney. He graduated from DeSales High School, Alfred State University and went on to pursue a very successful career in Sales spanning four decades.

Bobby had a personality that was larger than life; Was the life of the party; Had a smile and laugh that was infectious and he always went above and beyond to help anyone, friend or stranger realize their potential and achieve their dreams. He helped launch the careers of countless individuals.

But for Bobby, family was everything. He was a devoted father who loved his children more than words could ever describe. He was a coach when they needed a team leader, a rock when they needed a place to lean and the platform to make sure that they had what was needed to be successful in life. Bobby was also extremely close to his five siblings, parents, nieces, aunts, uncles, nephews & cousins whom he loved unconditionally. He was the one to call when there was a problem and he did whatever it took to find the solution. He was a shoulder to cry on and was the first person there when you needed anything. A sports enthusiast through and through,

Bobby excelled on the court or field in his teenage years and made many friends playing basketball at the Geneva Y.M.C.A. as an adult. He carried so much on his shoulders through the years and never once burdened you with his problems. The weight must have been heavy but he carried it with a smile on his face and love in his heart. He embraced everyone he met and has left behind a trail of broken hearts that stretches too long to measure.

He is survived by his children Liza and Jack Taney; The mother of his children Barbara Hennessy; His Mother Doris (Litzenberger) Taney; His siblings, Bernadette (Joe) Irving, Joseph Taney, Michael Taney, Jeffery (Amy) Taney, Patrick (Raza) Taney; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob is predeceased by his father Robert John Taney

To my dearest friend it is with very heavy heart that you were taken so soon you were like my second husband who talk bout everything and anything your late night text at 11:30 12:00 just to say hi even though you new I was half sleeping and the time chatting on the phone talking about everything under the sun . You have been my George and I was your Alice for the pass 25 years plus that I know you . When we first met you were Operational Regional and then became regional and then the work started with you always telling people don’t worry call Arlene she will take care of it but I always managed even though I would get yelled at by certain people but we didn’t give a crap because we beat to our own drum .
I will miss you my honey and all our great chats

In my 20+ years of knowing Bob, he was a consummate professional and outstanding partner to his distributor clients. Bob's easy going, old school way of doing business really set him apart from his contemporaries. Funny & down to earth, I am truly honored to have known and worked with Bob. My condolences to the entire Taney Family. The world was a better place with Bob. He will be missed by us all...

To the Taney Family
I’m not sure what exactly to say in the face of such a difficult loss. Bobby was one of a kind! I'll never forget all the great times and memories we had together. From the RIT golf outings, to the many, many trips up and down I-90 to the trips down to Tyson. I am honored and blessed to have known Bobby and I will miss him. My condolences to all of you. Godspeed Bobby and may you RIP.
